The following list of mandatory recycling items will be picked up on your scheduled recycling day.  The recycling schedule is located under Pickup Schedule.

 

Commingled

 Glass, aluminum cans, tin cans and all plastic containers.

The use of a 35-gallon trash container, weigh no more than 40lbs., is recommended for recycling of commingled. Free recycling stickers are available at the Public Works Office and should be placed on trash containers to designate them as a recycling container. Commingled recyclables should not be placed in bags for pickup or drop off.

 

 

Paper Collection (ALL IN ONE BIN)

Newspapers, Mixed Papers, Junk Mail, Cardboard, and Magazines.  MUST BE DRY.  Can be placed to curb in one container untied. The use of a 35-gallon trash container with lid, weighing no more than 40lbs., is recommended for recycling of papers. Free recycling stickers are available at the Public Works Office and should be placed on container to designate them as a paper recycling container. Paper recyclables should not be placed in bags for pickup or drop off.

Recycle your Electronics

The Borough will continue to accept old computers, monitors, VCR’s, printers, radios, laptops and telephone equipment at the Recycling Center as long as the current disposal program continues. Check with the Public Works Department for availability.

 

Placing household trash in public litter receptacles is a violation of Borough Code.

    Your cooperation is necessary to keep our community clean and litter free.


 

RECYCLING CENTER

No contractors are permitted to dispose of any items at any time!

Located on the corner of Washington and Baltimore Avenue, is open 7 days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Residents can utilize the center to drop off their normal recyclable items.  The Recycling Center is a service provided for Residents only. 

Proof of residency may be required by two forms Photo ID & Tax or Utility Bill.

 

The following is a list of recyclable items accepted at the Recycling Center.

A Guide to Solid Waste Management in Ocean County - This guide provides an overview of Ocean County’s various recycling and solid waste management activities.

Recycling...A Shore Thing   - This brochure provides a brief summary on what materials are mandated for recycling in Ocean County for all sectors, and other recycling opportunities at the County's Recycling Centers.

Ocean County Recycling Directory   - This handy directory, which is published annually, provides important recycling information that residents should become familiar with. It provides information on the full range of recycling opportunities that are available in our region as well as policies, facilities and programs. Commonly asked questions are addressed about recycling and other solid waste management matters.

Welcome to the Ocean County Backyard Composting Demonstration Site   - This brochure provides general information regarding composting and the compost units displayed at the County's site.

Help Your Community by Becoming an Ocean County Master Composter Volunteer   - This brochure provides general information on the Ocean County Master Composter Training Program.

Do Your Part! A Guide to Buying, Using & Disposing of Household Toxic Products   - This brochure explains to Ocean County consumers how they can reduce the generation of household toxic products and save money by shopping smart and using toxic-free household alternatives. Proper disposal of toxic household products is also discussed.

Grasscycling
  - This brochure explains how to recycle your grass clippings naturally by the "cut and leave it" method. The brochure also discusses proper mowing, watering and fertilizing to maintain a healthy lawn.

Your Guide to Home Composting
   - This brochure explains how to compost, what to compost, why we should compost, and discusses the different types of units that can be used to make compost.

Kids Can Compost Too!
 - This colorful brochure for children explains the basics behind composting and its environmental benefits.


Ocean County Recycles Newsletter
- This newsletter is published quarterly and provides information on current activities and events occurring in Ocean County’s Solid Waste Management Program. To be placed on the mailing list, please call the Department of Solid Waste Management at 732-506-5047 or e-mail ocrecycles@co.ocean.nj.us.

Teacher’s Resource Guide to Recycling in Ocean County
 - This guide was introduced in 1995 and updated in 2004 and is geared for grades four through six. Includes many activities that teachers can integrate within their lesson plan. Copies of the guide are also available from the Department of Solid Waste Management office. The guide is available as well in CD-Rom format.
