Disposal
Materials
accepted at the household hazardous waste collection sites are: paints,
thinners, boat paints, solvents, pool chemicals, pesticides and herbicides,
aerosol cans, auto products, toilet and drain cleaners, silver polishes,
oven cleaners, photographic chemicals, rug and upholstery cleaners, polishes
and bleaches, waste oil and used gasoline. Pre-Registration Is Required.

Asbestos, wood preservatives, thinners, solvents, chemicals and fuel are considered hazardous waste and are not collected by the Public Works Department. These items should never be placed at curbside for pickup nor should they be dropped off at the Recycling Center. Call the Northern Recycling Center located on New Hampshire Avenue in Lakewood at 732-367-0802 for disposal information.

Paint
As part of the Ocean County Paint Management Program, full, partially full, or empty paint cans are accepted at the Seaside Park Public Works Garage located on Barnegat Avenue, Seaside Park. Please call to register (732)793-5100. Limit is 20 cans per day, Monday through Friday – 9:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. Latex and Oil Based Paints Only, No Stains or Wood Preservatives Accepted.
Asbestos
Asbestos is a hazardous material and will not be collected at any time. Homeowners must contact a qualified contractor for asbestos abatement and removal.
Ocean County
Hazardous Waste Disposal Program
The Ocean County Department of Solid Waste holds Hazardous Disposal programs usually two times a year, once in the spring and another in the fall. There are drop off locations at five municipalities. Locations dates and time will be posted when they are announced. Pre-registration is required.
